It has been another interesting and enjoyable year at The Cat’s Meow Luxury Inn for Cats. Among a wide variety of guests, some very famous names have stayed at our inn. Shakespeare, Felini, Julius Caesar, Frodo Baggins, Yoda and Chewbacca, Cleopatra, Hannibal, Bonnie and Clyde, Samson, Mozart, Napoleon, Noah, Churchill, Alexander, Romeo, Thelma and Louise, Tiberius, Gilbert and Sullivan, and even Moses have all stayed with us, many of them for a number of visits. We can even attest to the truth of the legend that Elvis lives, since he has been here with us on several occasions. And with a variety of coats! In fact it is doubtful that many luxury inns can boast having as varied and unusual names on their guest list as we do. Mind you, with a selection of over eighty foods, we probably have the most extensive menu of any inn as well.
Last year I mentioned that we had a cat from Iqualuit, Nunavut. (formerly Canada’s North West Territories in the Arctic, approximately 2000 km from us.) Well it turns out it wasn’t true. We have had two cats from Iqualuit! And the owners didn’t know each other! Just when we thought that such an occasion would never repeat itself, low and behold we got a call from a couple from Iqualuit who were getting married and needed a place for their cat while they went on their honeymoon in Costa Rica. Never say never!
The Cats Meow is a second home for cats from all over Eastern Ontario and beyond. The list of cities and towns that our clients come from is almost as extensive as our food menu. We have clients from Ottawa, Hull, Kanata, Stittsville, Gatineau, Wakefield, Arnprior, Renfrew, Carp, Chelsea, Carleton Place, Pembroke, Petawawa, Lanark, Trenton, Belleville, Prescott, Westport, Smiths Falls, Merrickville, Wolfe and Howe Island, Inverary, Glenburnie, Packenham, Almonte, Chesterville, South Mountain, Nepean, Orleans, Glouchester, Navan, Dunrobin, Eganville, Fitzroy Harbour, Kinburn, Galetta, Braeside, Calabogie, Perth, Ashton, Maberly, Sharbot Lake, Picton, Morrisburg, Cornwall, Winchester, Kemptville, Oxford Mills, Osgood, Manotick, Seeley’s Bay, Portland, Napanee, Brockville, Ganonoque, Kingston, and even places farther a field like Toronto. Not to mention of course, Iqualuit. Our clients come from very diverse backgrounds with a wide variety of occupations and interests. There is at least one thing though that they all have in common. When it comes to finding a place to board their cats when they are away, they want the very best. Their cats are family to them, and they want the care, love and attention that they have come to rely on The Cat’s Meow to provide.
As usual this year we had cats arriving from exotic destinations. We had two delightful cats that arrived from Norway. You can view them on our black and white photo shows. You should immediately pick them out as they have very long hair, and are very beautiful. Though they are considered Maine Coons, they are different in appearance than any other cats we have seen. We also had cats from Israel, the United States, and from other parts of Canada.
As you can see from our new 2003 Photo Slide Shows, cats that stay with us are not stuck indoors. With few exceptions our feline guests love being outside, and for many who come from the city, it is a very uncommon and highly enjoyable experience for them. The Cats Meow is ideally situated on over 20 beautiful acres. In spring, summer and autumn cats can spend as much time outside as they want during the day. We have many dozens of birds at the feeders and often during the day deer can be seen nibbling either on grass or seeds very close to the buildings. The deer are so tame that they will usually continue grazing on our lawns even when clients arrive. It is truly an idyllic environment here. As you can see in the first photo in set 2A of our new 2003 colour slides, The Cat’s Meow has many beautiful flower gardens too. In day lilies alone we have over fifty varieties, and we have just planted about 100 more new plants in late august. With the beauty of the surroundings, the luxury of the buildings, the unmatched care and service, and above all the love we give to our feline guests, it is no wonder that our clients drive from all over eastern Ontario to come here.
Each summer we hire several students to help us during the busy holiday season. We were fortunate to have a delightful, cheery and dedicated employee named Jaime on staff with us this for several months this year. Since she had worked side by side with us for almost four months, we thought she was well qualified to give a true and accurate assessment of The Cat’s Meow from behind the scenes.
